Amphitrite’s unbeaten daughter Monroe Walk takes the Rose Stakes

Monroe Walk won the Group 2 Rose Stakes over 1800 metres at Hanshin on Sunday, the Kizuna filly beating Enne by three lengths with Exceed a length and a half away third. She ran 1:44.5 and closed her final 600 metres in 34.1 for Hiroyuki Uemura and Keita Tosaki. She is now four from four, and the first filly in 24 years to win the Shuka Sho trial unbeaten, after Fine Motion in 2002 (Idol Horse).
Her dam Amphitrite won the 2018 Group 1 Thousand Guineas at Caulfield and was third in the Australian Guineas, a $50,000 Magic Millions Adelaide buy who earned more than $750,000 before being sold privately to stud in Japan. Monroe Walk cost 68.2 million yen as a foal at the 2023 Northern Farm Mixed Sale. “As soon as I asked her to go, she responded immediately,” Tosaki said. She holds a berth in the Shuka Sho (Breednet, Idol Horse).
