Fayette Park has been sold to South African interests, the 132 hectare South Waikato farm bought for the principal of the wagering operator Hollywoodbets in a deal negotiated by Craig Ramsay. Established by David and Masey Benjamin in the late 1980s and owned since 2005 by Gary and Linda Harding, it stood the foundation stallion Grosvenor, sire of 54 stakes winners. Ramsay signed last week for the Tony Pike trained mare Churchillian, an 11 race winner who will visit Paddington, and wants a band of around 20 mares. “The property has so much potential and we’re looking forward to having our own horses here as well as making it available to others,” he said (Breednet) |

The Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes over 1400 metres at Caulfield on Saturday is worth a million dollars and drew a full field. The Darley shuttler Harry Angel has four runners in it, among them Chris Waller’s Angel Capital, who was fourth in the race last year. Waller also starts Lady Shenandoah, withdrawn from the Sheraco on Saturday morning with Caulfield in mind. Sav On Ice won the Listed Balaklava Cup over 1600 metres for the second year running, the Puissance de Lune gelding scoring by a length and a quarter from Air Assault in 1:36.15 on a Good 4 for Garret Lynch and Kayla Crowther. He had not won since taking the race last year and changed stables twice in between. He is now six wins and a second from 17 starts with $263,320 earned, and was a $90,000 Magic Millions Tasmanian yearling out of the unraced Mastercraftsman mare Shemakhan (Breednet) |

Scarole broke his maiden at Caulfield Heath on Wednesday at his fourth start, the Ole Kirk colt leading from 1000 metres out and winning by three and a quarter lengths in 1:32.05 on a Good 4 for Ciaron Maher and Thomas Stockdale. Sweetest Thing won the Listed Canterbury Belle Stakes over 1200 metres at Riccarton on Saturday for her first black type win and her first start for Mark Walker and Sam Bergerson. Bred by Wentwood Grange, she is by Hello Youmzain out of the Sea The Stars mare Ocean Drive, bought from Inglis in 2022 for A$45,000 and now in foal to Little Brose. Lollapalooza returns at Ellerslie on Saturday over 1600 metres after finishing last in the Group 1 Proisir Plate earlier this month. The El Roca mare won the Group 3 Gold Trail Stakes at three and was second in the Group 1 New Zealand 1000 Guineas, the Group 2 Eight Carat Classic and the Group 3 Sunline Vase.
