Pensando A Te won the Group 2 Betway Rockfel at Newmarket on Friday by a short head from Light Of Dawn, with Ruby Moon a head away third, in 1:23.67 under Silvestre De Sousa for Marco Botti. It was her first black type win and a group breakthrough for her sire Blackbeard, and she runs for Elsa Stable, the revived silks of the late owner breeder Elsa Franchini, who died a year ago aged 89. Botti said she has the ability to be a Classic horse and that he will train her with a view to being a Classic filly next year. Talk Of New York took the Group 2 Betway Joel Stakes by four and three quarter lengths from The Lost King in 1:34.30 for Charlie Appleby and William Buick, a first group win for the Godolphin colt, Appleby saying the reason they came was that they could supplement for the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes. Twenty runners go for the Goffs Million at the Curragh today, Europe’s richest two year old race and the feature of day one of the Autumn Racing Weekend. Paddy Twomey runs Trean, a 20,000 euro Orby Book 2 purchase for the Red Lily Racing Syndicate who was third in the Acomb, while Ballydoyle field Be In Love, the 1.9 million euro Orby Book 1 topper, and Prix Morny runner up Carry The Flag. Michael Bell, who sends Bayside View, said the 50,000 euro Goffs bonus the colt won at Newbury is a massive thing for owners, basically your fees for the year done and dusted and more. Kalpana will be Juddmonte’s only runner in the Group 1 Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, with Sunly rerouted to the Group 1 Prix de Royallieu the day before. A share in Ace Impact made 98,000 euro to James Smith at the Aktem online stallion sale, the top price of the auction. Van Beethoven, at 52,000 euro, and Taj Mahal, at 35,000 euro, both went to Sorec and will stand in Morocco. Eleven of the sixteen lots sold, for a gross of 282,500 euro at an average of 28,250 euro and a median of 21,000 euro. The All-Weather Bonus returns for a fifth season with a one million pound prize fund, running from Tuesday 20 October to Good Friday 26 March at Lingfield Park, Newcastle, Southwell and Wolverhampton, with Arena Racing Company fixtures at Chelmsford City included for the first time. The 60th International Conference of Horseracing Authorities takes place in Paris on 5 October at Le Meridien Paris Arc de Triomphe, with a keynote address by Princess Zahra Aga Khan and Rishi Persad moderating. Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges, chair of the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities, said that for 60 years delegates with a passion for racing have gathered to share ideas and promote international cooperation. Total Performance Data has signed an agreement with Race Coast covering four South African racecourses, Kenilworth, Durbanville, Greyville and Scottsville, bringing real time GPS tracking, sectional timing and performance data to the Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal. All four tracks are expected to be live and fully operational later this year.
